Plantation house Rooi Catootje – Museum Maduro (Willemstad area)
Plantation Red Catootje is open during the week. It is a small museum with interesting history about the famous Madoru family. They founded the Madurobank in the early 20th century, which contributed significantly to the building of Curacao. In addition, family member George Maduro is a resistance hero at WWII in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, he did not survive the war. As a reminder, Madorodam is named after him.
Behind the museum is a modern library built, containing more than 10,000 books, free of charge but not lendable. There are people coming from all over the world to read the books here. Access is free.
This trip might cmbinated with a visit to Mansion Bloemhof, lunch at Zuikertuin and museum Curaçao Liqueur Distillery. All near Schottegatseweg-Oost. Closed in weekend. Please mind Rooi Catootje is only open in the morning.
